Kamala officer had proposed planning of a new road that linked West Coast town with Kathu town through Patong. This five-kilometer road over the hills behind Phuket FantaSea and joint pathway at Kathu waterfall. This new road had beed approved that costs more than 17.4 million baht for the 2.6 kilometers road in Kamala. The section in Kathu would cost even more.

President of the Kamala Tambon Administration Organization Jutha Dumluck has already proposed fund request to the Phuket Provincial Office under the Thai Khem Kaeng (Strong Thailand) scheme. “This shortcut will save fuel costs, travel time and help ease traffic congestion over Patong Hill,” Mr Jutha said. Unlike the long road that joint Patong to Chalong which planning crossed state forest land, the Kamala-Kathu road would not pass an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) said Mr Jutha. This road would ask agricultural land not the forest, he said.

Kathu Mayor Chaianan Suthikul confirmed he would keep his eye on this project through surveying the proposed route. Furthermore, Kathu Municipality had not yet applied to the Phuket Provincial Office for its budget approval said Mayor Chaianan.
