Phuket Helps Poor People at Chinese Festival

Some 1,000 poor people in Phuket collected in the headquarter of Kusoldharm Foundation in Phuket Town yesterday to get food donation. This charity event was being the part of Te Krajard merit-making ceremony. This event led by the president of this foundation Benjawan Tamphanuwat while Kusoldham workers started to deliver 4,800 packs of rice and foodstuffs at 2:30 PM.

Most of the poor people were local sea gypsy community. The charity event enlightened the birthday of Chinese God Hui Joh who is highly praised in Phuket Chinese community, said Ms Benjawan. “Today (9/5) we deliver scholarships for 200 poor students. Each scholarship worth 2,000 baht as it is sending to 18 local schools in Phuket. We gave rice packages to 28 schools while each school got 250 kg of rice,” said her. “The charity event held twice per year as we deliver rice donations during Por Tor ceremony,” she added. “Te Krajard merit-making is part of annual activity of Kusoldham Foundation to help poor people in Phuket,” said Ms Benjawan.
