Living samples of tiny crabs took by PMBC Director Wannakiat Thubthimsang on Friday. The small creatures are found wash ashore at Kata and Karon Beaches. They identified by Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) as crabs, not krill. This discovery inclined to overfishing issue happened in these waters.

Phuket Lifeguard Club contract expired on Friday makes the island’s beaches unprotected. The lifeguard staff brought out their utilities from the beaches on Saturday. The contract valued 9.9 million baht to guard the beaches was put out on an annual tender which critics claimed it was too short.
